Description

Hot rolling is a rolling process that involves rolling steel at temperatures above the recrystallization temperature of the steel (typically at temperatures in excess of 1700°F). When steel is above the recrystallisation temperature it can be easily formed and shaped, and the steel can be made into larger sizes. Hot-rolled steel is usually cheaper than cold-rolled steel because it is usually manufactured without any delay and therefore does not need to be reheated (as is the case with cold-rolled steel). As the steel cools, it shrinks slightly, so there is less control over the size and shape of the stainless steel clad plate than with cold rolling.
